Rudder vibration

    I'd think the flexible edge would oscillate with the vibrations, though depending on material, might absorb some of the noise, it also could amplify it, again depending on material. There would also be a tendency of the flexible strip finding a sympathetic harmonic zone, it just loves to dance with.

    I can imagine it flapping like the tail end of a flag and being counterproductive. A 'sympathetic harmonic zone' would also be a nuisance unless it was a zone rarely encountered or if the flexible part was able to be minutely changed underway, such as tensioned or something. Of course it all depends on if it worked at all, which I guess is unknown.

    Might be a good way to judge speed, the frequency is hums at could be measured and compaired to a chart . . .

    Some sea mammals seem to be attracted to certain types of noise. I remember reading about it around a decade ago. It's well known fish are attracted to some sounds, so a fancy depth sounder and a net equals lunch . . .
