Specifies a little more, please. A "basic boat" is a very simple thing while a "basic yatch" can be very complicated.
What do you understand as a GA in Maxsurf?. Perhaps you mean a 3D model of the hull and its superstructure, windows, seats, anchor, fujnnel, tanks, cabins and beds, engines, generators, rescue boat, rigging, ............ .....
The more vague your question is, the less successful you will be in correct answers.
    Regards

Does anyone do their own homework these days? Perhaps we should start a new thread... "I want to be an engineer but would like someone on the internet to help with my homework"

exactly. I would think that the schools are providing the info required for the kids who want to pay attention.

Your course material should have what you need - ask them for it.
For a GA, look in any yachting magazine 'design reviews'.
