Fresh winds with around 16-24 knots, building to 30 knots in the gusts once the current kicks in in the evening.

Nearly everyone is past Bishop Rock on the way in. 168 retired out of 415, 1 sinking, 4 dismasting. Not a bad showing for a very fast race.

By the time they reached the Needles Channel the wind increase, and with the current against the west 30-35 knots, gusting 40, the sea state also deteriorated with 1.5-2.5m waves over the first evening.

Fastner Rock or The Irish Teardrop was the last land the Irish immigrants would see of their homeland as the left Ireland.
