Not to thread jack, but after researching where you live I see that here is San Francisco bay area we are really blessed with a cornucopia of free or nearly free nice small boats.

Stuff like this will pop up often for "Free, you haul, just need it gone", or will sell for 1/2 asking price after first 10 callers flake out.

My buddy just picked up a nice 16' runabout on trailer in a garage that was being foreclosed.

Seems like it would ALMOST be worth it to pack a 40' CONTEX box with cheap little last forever aluminum boats from CA and ship to "the outback".

yeah its protected :) faily quite

was leaning towards a canoe, though a shanty boat or something like that would be quite nice, theirs quite a few weir's along the river and can be a pain getting around / though
a canoe with wheels can be draged a few hundred meters pretty easy
also their pretty cheap second hand, even new arnt to bad haha.

also petrol prices for 800 - 2200km even on a 5hp engine, with apprentice wages haha.

but yeah not sure, a few things have come up most likley wont be able todo it for another year, well atleast 6 - 8 months.

only time will tell what will happen. one way to find out haha.
will defantly look into a cheapish second hand boat ect :)
