I am looking for input on a possible purchace of a RH 58'. This apears to be a well designed hull for LR crusing. I would like to hear anyone's thoughts on.

Hull ride charistics, Known problems with hull(glass failure), Detailed performance data, CHB build quality. Or any other information on this type.

Almost ALL the old TT (Tiawan Tubs) suffer from the same maladies as they age.

Teak was casually fastened to much very indifferent plywood and 30 years is a long time for hardware store goop to keep water out.

So most will need the teak removed and a substantial deck repair done.
We remove the teak and simply build a new GRP deck over the rotten plywood .

The Iron tanks will need to at least have access ports installed and the gunk removed.
Most rust down from the top (those deck leaks provide the water) and need to be pulled and replaced.

Most of the electrical work was very poor , so a complete rewire may be in your future.

The cabin and pilot house windows were usually poorly constricted and sealed , so the inside cabin sides may need replacement.

But for coastal cruising there big + cheap , most owners prime considerations.
