Rhino - Triangulate 3d points?

    Hello. I have a dxf file consisting of points describing a ship hull. (attached).
    Is there a way I can triangulate these points in Rhino? My goal is to save out
    a file where the hull is saved as a list of triangles.

    Please help. thank you

    Take your DXF definition, generate a 3D hull surface, export as raw triangles.

    You could alos look at the Terrain plugin from Sycode.

    Thanks for quick answer. Is there a simple/quick way to generate the 3d hull surface? I might have to do this on several different files and time is essential. I have looked at lofting, but get problems with the bulb..Is this the right way to go?

    I have tried the terrain plugin, but is seems to create problems at the bulb..

    Reduce triangles?

    I got the hull into triangles, is there a way to reduce the number of triangles?

    You can use several algorithms once you've got the triangles, but it's easier for everyday work to change the advanced settings when you export in Rhino.

    Is there a specific file format that you are trying to write to? Do you need triangles for rapid prototyping or analysis or something else? Your DXF file looks like you could put some surfaces together pretty quick using lofts, sweeps, and patches. Once you have actual surfaces (not meshes), you can tweak Rhino's mesh settings to get the triangle mesh you want.

    I think you r question now is "how to model the hull from those dxf lines" :)

    Here is one method,

    An other method would be to make the parallel midship as long as possible, then model the bow and merge and match a surface between, then the same in the aft, but maybe with more surfaces because if the propeller housing.

    Anyway you choose, the first step is to make new curves, as smooth as possible with as few control points as possible, but as close as you need to the original dxf.
