I'm sold on the ingenuity of the bow design as well. Nice job tapering those drums to take on waves. It would make a simple dive boat for a local harbor. In a storm though it would probably break up.

A proper song for such a boat.

It is amazing how many people try to come here considering how much the world hates the USA.

Yeah, but they hate you BECAUSE you wont let them come in :p

Also, bear in mind that the Cubans have been majorly disadvantaged by the embargoes from the US of many, many years. Imagine how the US would respond to the same kind of treatment.

As for the reasons for the embargo, if the US could stick some ICBM's on the Turkish/Russian border, it only seems fair for the Cubans to install missiles near the US coast.

Interesting that theey went to this much trouble making it into a monohull.

Seems it would have been simpler to make it a catamaran.

All that would be needed then is a ridid deck structure to weld the barrels to, and farings for the bows.

As it is, it is quite interesting.

It would b even more interesting to learn its history.

    Yeah,

hope the people aboard made it & are happy in their new home.

What's quite striking is the coulour in the first set of photos, so soon to rust now...those chlorides get right in!

Sorry, Ray. Just a little too provocative for my taste.

My first guess is it was built in Haiti because of the French name "La Tre? on the bow. La Trec would have been a nice ending but the last letter is a little too angular.

I wonder what they told local Govt officials they were building.
