    Most measurements of performance on military boats are at almost top speed.

    That's where the kids run them.

    We have a USN Utility 50 ft that is a "lobster yacht" . We ran the "Loop" in the US and in 6000 miles the burn was under 3gph at 7K.

    Top speed light is 12K , but the fuel burn is 12-14 gph , not for us.
