22' longboat refit

    Hi All

    I have a new blank canvas.

    It is a South African surf boat from around 70's or 80's

    Interesting clipper bow - anyone recognise her shape?

    Decided to start with the out-wales. using 75 x 38 Saligna. Here using a scarfing jig to join 4,2m lengths. Also testing my steam generator

    Hi Mickyryan - seems OK. It is very easy to check and add water.

    Have scarfed up my planks (now 8,4m !) Used Polyurethane glue.

    Bagged them up for steaming in place. Letting them sit with some water in the bag for a day or so to increase the moisture in the wood

    Frankly if this works I'll be as surprised as anyone - but worth a shot

    I think I must transfer this thread to timber boatbuilding, its all going to be timber now
