Hi I am having trouble praying the PVA over wax, I used a generic turtle wax and the PVA beads and blotches when I spray it over the wax. Is there is a special wax I should be using? I thought I had better luck with the SCJohnson paste wax before, thought I'd try another wax but I think this wax is not compatible with PVA, whats going on here? Is it the silicone that makes it bead? Boy does the PVA sprayed on make my duratec plug glossy cant wait to pull a mold off it

My understanding is that the beading comes from trying to do the job too quickly, the finest of mists with time to dry between passes, I have seen recommended.

Good point there, i did a mist pass and then another maybe slightly thicker pass after the first dried, it still was blotchy...I am going to try again after i put some SCJohnson wax on it instead but not sure if I was able to remove all the previous wax

You should be able to remove the PVA with a wet soft sponge ?

Yes the PVA cane off with water easily, it’s the wax underneath I need to remove so I wiped it with lacquer thinner and now I’m putting the SCJohnsons wax on several applications before I spray the PVA again

    Try it with no wet-on-wet

Allow each pass to dry before returning

Depending on temperature and humidity, it shouldn't take long for a fine mist to set up

Is the generic wax absolutely free from silicone?

How big is the mold, you may be able to wipe it on with better results.

No the generic Turtle wax I was using said Silicone on the ingredient
Good news is I was able to wipe on the SC Johnson and the PVA sprayed on nicely
Wish I tried this before the last mold I made, I messed that one up badly

    I will post some pictures

It about a foot long by 6 inches wide
My next concern is how to polish it
The my plug surface wasn't shiny and the PVA has some slight drips to I had to wet sand the mold starting with 400 going up to 800 next
I will use some 3m rubbing compound inside the mold but what air tool do I use? It's kinda tight in there

Is it standard practice to have to wet sand a mold and then polish it before pulling parts from it?
How can I polish the tight inside areas with an air tool/electric?
I got up to 1000 grit but it's still a little hazy and my hand doesnt spin fast enough to polish it
