Hello so I brought this Skipper 14 super cheap it came with a 25hp 2t motor Not made for that boat so now i have a small 8hp but I'm looking on fully repairing it and painting it black and red just wondering what colour to paint the top part but iv tried sanding the orange part and it just melts so yeah no idea what to do there and what should I do with the repairs?

Any advice would be much appreciated thank you and I'm going to be using the boat for fishing about 1km of the coast in the med sea.

Is there foam under the decks?
I’d want to insure that it’s not waterlogged before proceeding with the painting.

Karlis, to get the old paint off, use a cabinet scraper. If you are not familiar with that tool you can find numerous links on Youtube. That kind of scraper is not the same as the paint scrapers sold in hardware stores with brand names such as Red Devil.

Some paints, like vinyl house paints, tend to clog sandpaper in a gooey mess. The scraper will deal with that problem nicely. A lot less costly too.
