Its old paper board, I thought let me see if I can fix it and make it better than new.
I used a sander, FG yellow drywall tape, old Behr flat latex paint.
This is a very thin board, less than 1/4 inch and even had a crack where steel nails were holding it to the wood frames. All the steel nails were rusted away, so the board was loose in a bow storage locker under the V berth. The board keeps things from falling in between the frame into the bilge. the plywood floor edge of this storage locker runs into the frames leaving a gap.
Paint is adhesive enough and fairly water proof, and the FG tape gives the old paper board strength. Its in a gallery, so if you click on the images, you can read descriptions.
For flattening the curl I laid lead weights on the edge. The curl showed up after one side had dried. So the other side down, the board stresses will be equalized. I wont nail it on, I will use SS screws. And I got one more board on other side of locker to do.
It worked out pretty good for not a lot of money.

FG drywall tape plus paint drying
Simply lay the tape on sticky side down and leave edges beyond board edge. Paint the surface...
Glued down edge for the other side of board
for the other side of board, glue it down using DAP Alex clear caulk, it dries clear so you know...
Dap Alex clear glued down edge
Dap Alex clear glued down edge. Wet paint not sticky enough to hold FG tape over an edge.
