    Hi everyone,

Stiffened panels (girders, stringers etc.) are commonly used in ships, Principles of Naval Architecture talks a little bit about these in volume 1.

I am wondering, are there any more modern, detailed books about the design and analysis of stiffened panels, especially curved panels/shells, in ship design, especially cargo ship design?

    Thanks,
    May

Amazon USA have a few second hand copies of The Maritime Engineering Reference Book for sale, starting at US$ 137.
    Or a new copy for US$ 209.

Dr Molland was my tutor at Southampton University almost 40 years ago - he is a very nice chap, and he is a veritable walking encyclopaedia about pretty much everything relating to ship and boat design.

There is always Ship Design and Construction (SD&C) from SNAME. But really, most of the actual analysis of metal structure is straight from Timoshenko's Theory of Plates and Shells. For composites I'd use Composite Design/Theory of Composite Design by Tsai.
