This has got to be a joke - when would a serious multi-million dollar 'entrepeneur' place a 'Want Ad' on a public chat site?

Anyone worth their salt would have enough contacts, or know how to find them already.

Looking at www.yca-hk.com site gives you the impression they could design stuff themsleves - if you belive web site impressions!

Yea there site boasts that they have 2 Naval Architects, 3 Yacht Designers and 2 Interior Designers on their payroll if these can't design and develop naval craft then who can.

I believe that this is a joke.

What is an inexpensive way to find new talent?

Throw bait out and let them find you.

Seems like those guys are 'concept hunters': they collect concepts from architects/designers, and use those to hook up customers. Once they succeed, they hire Chinese draftsmen to produce a 'design'.

I dunno, I would give the guy a chance. Maybe he is for real
I had mail from a Chinese company , where he got my address from I have no idea At first I doubted the guy, I asked him for a price for 2 dies, they came back in an hour with a price, a drawing, and the price for the metal, delivered anywhere
I was doubtful, should I send the money .After 3 months I asked him for references, he gave me a list of clients from all over I got on the phone and one Co. in NZ, told me they had 200 dies with this croWd and had been doing trade for years
I sent the money for the dies and deposit for the metal
It was only 750kg the metal was 33% of quoted here, dies were 40%
They are a pleaure to do Business with On the other hand, I am glad I do not work for Rio Tinto

a little different scope here - these guys are asking for concepts - to do what with?
To get inspiration? come on - if they are to design and build boats they should have a clue themselves. It really does look like they want to use other people's concepts (with as little work as possible) as their advertising.

We get these posts every week -

"I need to design a minesweeper 120ft - how do I start - should I start with a profile drawing???! please help my boss is putting pressure on me!"
