Now we know why insurance at public marinas is so important.

That's for sure. In other news, the coastline of these United States could change.

Yes, I learned that too.
Note to self, "Only show non-smushed rats." There are too many 2-legged rats from which to choose, so I won't post them.

They should be looking for three arks. Maybe Ocean Infinity will find one while looking for MH370 in the Indian Ocean.

There are some more types of biogeographic dispersal which which you apparently have missed, since the dispersal of organisms is a critical process for understanding both geographic isolation and the broad patterns of geographic distributions . . . .

I am glad we live on a peninsula. The water around us will lessen the effects of the hard freeze that is descending upon our area over the next couple of days. We lost a lot of citrus from the hurricane and the freeze will make us lose more. Brrr. High winds again are keeping us ashore.

It's a bit bigger than that, due to tax deals with the Dutch, and many other complicated tax constructions, IKEA has their headquarters in Leiden in the Netherlands, just enough to keep it official, which makes IKEA pays almost no taxes world wide.

Below an attempt for a simplified version of their pre 2016 corporate structure, no Sweden in IKEA's main tax routing, and the poor countries where the stuff is made suffer a lot from this, because due to the routing there's almost no official profit, so hardly any taxes are paid anywhere, while the deal with the Dutch is they get a little bit for their cooperation. . . .

The European Union is still investigating if this way of avoiding of over € 1 billion (US $) in tax payments over 2009-2014 was illegal.

Since 2016 IKEA has a new corporate structure with new tax deals with the Dutch for routing their profits almost taxfree away from other countries.

Below what they say themselves about the post 2016 corporate structure: Inter IKEA Group ---> Our Business in brief

‘‘ IKEA: Many companies, one brand

Since May, 2016, there are separate holding companies and management teams for the IKEA related business and the investment business, previously part of Inter IKEA Group. The reason for this change is to enhance business focus and efficiency. Inter IKEA Holding B.V. (located in the Netherlands), is the new holding company for all IKEA related businesses.

The holding company of the investment business, Interogo Holding AG was established in Switzerland in 2016.

    Holding and governance structure

The governance structure of the Inter IKEA Group was formed with two main considerations in mind.

Securing the growth and development opportunities of the group and the IKEA Concept.

Guaranteeing its independence and ability to maintain a long-term perspective.

Inter IKEA Holding B.V., located in the Netherlands, is the holding company for the new Inter IKEA Group. ’’

IKEA has just bought TaskRabbit, so maybe they can assemble the Ark for Noah . . .

TaskRabbit CEO Stacy Brown-Philpot and Ikea Group CEO Jesper Brodin in 2017.jpg

TaskRabbit CEO Stacy Brown-Philpot, and the (new since mid 2017) Ikea Group CEO Jesper Brodin, have closed the deal end 2017.

Leah Busque has cashed a bit there, see right bottom corner, a click on her image there provides some more info.

So IKEA is looking for some help from TaskRabbit's digital contract labor marketplace to assemble their stuff at the customer's home, or in their huge backyard when someone orders an Ark.

P.S. - Ray, sorry for the aside, but at least it's about buying and assembling a boat kit, which reportedly is ready for all oceans, but that reckons on the use of the original plans, and for sure not the ones from the disaster boat in Urk . . ;)
