    It is rarely a problem, but people can be stupid. Urban setting is not always the best locale but it is often the most convenient. Florida is heavily populated near the coast but there are less impacted areas to recreate in. You just have to look for them.

    I dont often operate in canals. In the past Ive operated in a few of the rivers like the ELBE and Danube.
    I remember one odd rule in the Elbe. Because of draft and the geography outbound fully laden ships may cross over to the inbound lane and have right of way. They also have a dense vhf traffic reporting scheme that requires you to constantly change channels and you move between buoy sets. Difficult passage for craft not obliged to carry a pilot.

    Maybe a schedule of Pilot fees is appropriate here. For our more affluent members. I'll research.

    Id imagine its expensive. I have to take on a pilot for the Kiel Canal because I'm greater than 3.2 meters draft. Expensive.

    I've always wanted to transit Florida via Lake Okeechobee. Maybe someday. I just never got around to it.

    First real non sea trial of IntrepiDos will be transit of Cross Florida Canal. Maybe you and Mrs Hoyt would like to accompany Julie and I.
    You can tow me behind in the inflatable when I crave a smoke. My Julie will insist! At home I'm banished outside to smoke, matters not it's raining, freezing, on goldurned FIRE!

    Michael;
    If you are this side of Atlantic when IntrepiDos starts for Lake Okeechobee, You'd be welcome Too. We'll have to bring tents ect for overnight camps. IntrepiDos is only being accomodious for 2 persons to sleep aboard.
