    Hi all Sailors

I am considering installing a Raymarine 240e VHF system or Simrad 87
    + portable VHF

    Any experience with both manufacturers?

Since I am looking for 3 stations (Cockpit, Nav station, & Skipper cabin on
a Jeanneau SO54 ) only Simrad offers the option of 3 station with intercom
    connection Via handset.

Raymarine offers 2 station on the E240 + E54 as independent station at
Skipper cabin (with separate VHF antenna and electrical connection) with a
rational that a separate VHF DSC units offers more security in the event of
main unit (240) malfunction, so that I will full access in 3 location Via 2
    separate system.

    Any comments?

    Your input is highly appreciated

    Thanks

    Icom?

With mult. stations I would also look at ICOM - a bit more $ but worth it IMO.
