This is on iplayer at the moment, if you can get it. Fabulous, dark, nostalgic, eccentric and beautiful film collage of rural Britain from the archives of the British Film Institute. Very familiar to me, also strangely harrowing. A bit disturbing, and some nudity and mild violence. Oh, and contains some film of boats, including a punt gun.

It says to me: ‘‘ BBC iPlayer only works in the UK. Sorry, it’s due to rights issues. - duration 76 mins - first shown in 2017 - available for 28 days - download - ’’

Thanks Angel - great to see the (presumably) earlier sketch for a sketch - on squared paper too! In the background are two figures fishing; in the more developed drawing they have a stick and a dog swimming.

Thanks, I'd missed that change from fishing to playing with the dog, they also have remarkable clothing, but not the matching hat . . .

The sketch reminds me of one of the most beautiful boats I have seen in the flesh. Tender to Pilot Cutter Alpha, off Gigha a few years ago. Alpha, stunning boat she is, is, iirc, Dutch owned : 15168908_1126804297388615_2511567882930707252_o_1126804297388615.jpg 15167531_1126804290721949_3544218461068914000_o_1126804290721949.jpg 15156980_1126804320721946_8205504975102468915_o_1126804320721946.jpg 15069035_1126804314055280_8887780317319862814_o_1126804314055280.jpg

That looks spot on, Angel thanks. I think TT Alpha is a very small version. I wonder if the main reason for that tiny bow transom is that it is a little easier to construct - a little more room on a small boat than bringing the planks into a stem post?
I like the very circular curve to the keel line fore and aft, like a cockle shell. In one of my photos, the boat almost appears to be floating above the water.
