What surprises me there is she's on a two mid axle trailer, almost welcoming the average tow car . . -

Liberty Ships were made in Brunswick and a few other places. At the water front park in downtown Brunswick there is a 23' model of one that is very nice.

In the upper left is where they built the ships and then they moved to the docks for fitting out.

My uncle built model ships. This one had an engine of some sort. I think it was a model airplane motor that he geared way down to turn the screw. It was still pretty fast as we really had to row hard to stay ahead of it in a rowboat. Usually we set the rudder so that it would turn in a big loop.

While we are on the subject of model boats: http://www.usvmyg.org/squarerig/sq1.htm

"On the Rigging and Sailing of Model Windjammers" by D.J.Boyle

Includes a description of the Eileen O'Boyle and her rigging.

I've been tempted to use the proportions of rigging given as a starting point for some madness with a Bolger Light Schooner style hull ... and every time I'm reminded I'm tempted yet again.

I'd be tempted to make these air cannons. Actual shotguns would be exciting.

I've seen of a club that has traditional America Cup sailboats, with the deep keels, that the guys sat in or even stood in, with just their heads above the deck. They could work all the sails and all and would have races all the time.

    Cool chase scene.

When the older cop fell off the boat at the start I could almost hear Murtaugh lament to Riggs that he was getting too old for this ****!

Was there a police chief dressing down the risk taking younger cop scene next?

If you think he's unhappy now just wait till he has to start sanding to fair the boat. ;)

BTW, this was one of the advantages mentioned for the trick of using, IIRC, Mylar and squeegees when fiberglassing: you end up sanding away less (material, money ... difference w/o distinction).
