The above is an article from 2009 and it's first sentence reads
    It's last sentence reads
The first says it hasn't even beaten the speed record of 58 mph, the last says it hasn't even gone 49mph. And that's with a flying start.
Even bolding doesn't make the 0 to 60 claim any more believable.

    0 to 60 mph = 0.2 seconds
    0 to 337 mph= 4.5 seconds

Very clever comparing a sailboat to a dragster.
Makes a lot of sense - whatever you were saying.

Why don't you talk about a bicyclist next?
    Or an AIM-9 missile.

Exactly, or a full keel cruiser.
If it had of obviously been a joke, well that would be different.

No, it was about comparing an actual fact with the outright fabrication of a British yacht does 0-60mph in 5 seconds. I used the same format of 0 to 60 and top speed. It's a random picture thread so the picture didn't really have to be a boat to match the op, I didn't think.

Does that clear it up for you upchurchmr and hoytedow? I thought it was fairly clear to begin with, but it seems not. My bad I guess.

    Let me try again.

    This is a fact...
    0-262.23 MPH in 3.36 seconds
    [IMG]

    This is fiction...

    0-60 mph in 5.2 seconds

I was flying a number of years ago, happened to look out the window and this was there...

It was awesome. A little while later we went right by the Grand Canyon. That was also awesome. I read a book "God's Middle Finger" and in it it says there are 5 canyon systems in the Mexican Sierra Madras that are even more awesome than the Grand Canyon, but it's all lawless cartel area. Don't know if it's true or not.

Apparently they sold and developed the Arizona meteor crater since I flew by. Bummer.

RRS Boaty McBoatface is the new name of this reseach vessel. It was democratic decided according to this web site:
    http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/rrs-boaty-mcboatface-could-official-7594401
Other names you could vote for were Shackleton and Endeavour.
I would have voted for Shackleton.

RRS Boaty Mcboatface? what kind of name is that?
What kind of people vote for a name like that?
Children? Demented alcoholics? Or people with a very strange sense of humour?

I think the big problem here is the people who were stupid enough to think that the people who voted for that name were serious.
