If your dog bites a PeTA vegetarian, just tell him to sue the dog.

    Today In History

According to the local newspaper (Chronicle Herald) Today in history the first shots of the war between the USA & CSA were fired involving steam ship Star of the West. I thought it might be interesting to post a Nova Scotia / New Brunswick ? connection, partially conforming to the forum rules of Boats & Boating. :) One of many I might add for both the North & the South. Tallahassee's photo credit, a print I have of a painting by Nova Scotia artist Clyde Henneberry . Details of both Tallahassee & Sara Edmonds connections can be found on Wikipedia however if you search Dean Jobb the Sara Edmonds story it is in more detail.

We've been watching the series on Oak Island. 4 British Navy ships skeddadling to Halifax stopped off to hide some of the treasure they were supposed to deliver. Interesting stuff.

Other than pouring good cold cash into Nova Scotia for the past 100 yrs. plus, it is reviving some great history details. As you know, me being a history nut, I love that aspect of it. Both the USA/CSA and USA/Upper/Lower Canada conflicts are non ending in their tid bits of historical surprises.

Mon Ami c' est bon and ! just about the limit of my French. :p However back on subject "History & Boats I am working on a most interesting positive boating historical story involving The Country of Newfoundland the U.S Coast Guard, The U.S. Navy and a voyage of discovery.

See the side view cross-section of how I would do the ramp. It should be immune to wave action.

Très bien écrit. Bon génie votre conception de l'embarcation de sauvetage la Nancy G.
Now all you need is someone with a pickaxe a strong back and a weak mind who can trench it out for you. Once the concrete is poured and trowelled the incoming tide should not harm it while it cures. Tide comes in fast up there so may have to trench over the course of several low tides. Our tidal range is only in the neighborhood of a little over a meter and gives plenty of time to get things done. Maybe lay a plate of iron or weighted plywood on the slope of wet concrete for a few hours to keep it from being beaten up by the waves when the tide comes in.
