    Just for info about the boat, it's the LE 74 (sort of translation), which is an Lemsteraak (sort of translation)

    LE 74, the 1st Lemsteraak commissioned in steel at the 'de Boer' yard in Lemmer, built in 1900.

    strange, iron or steel, the sheer cap is welded,could have been a later addition

    The Dutch link says ‘‘ijzer’’ which is iron, but I think that's laymen's talk for steel, even when built in 1900.

    I don't know what happened to the sheer cap, but sure they didn't weld it during the build in 1900.
