    El Galeon visits St. Augustine

This historic replica ship (built 2009) is currently visiting St. Augustine from Spain. This is the type of ship Spanish explorers used back in Pedro Menendez's time (1565) when he founded St. Augustine. We celebrate the 450th birthday of St. Augustine in 2015. This year, 2013, we celebrate the 500th anniversary (April 2) of Ponce De Leon landing on the shores of La Florida, just a few miles north of our town. It's looking like El Galeon is going to make St. Augustine its east coast home when it is in the Americas--they've had a great reception here.

I am part of a 4-person team building a model of the HMS Victory at our local St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum. We had a head start by the man who donated the model to the museum, and I don' know how much time he spent on it, but we hope to have it finished at the end of the year, or thereabouts.

I tip my hat to you Eric, its truly a detailed talent.

pictures never do these justice either,
when you see them in person you get a much better appreciation
of the detail and work involved.
