Looks like a German build, steel flush riveted , circa 1910 ? Any info please Daniel !
Very similar to a recent project I worked on.

Something looks out of scale on it . The bobstay, and other bowsprit rigging including the anchor looks small/light. Normally a bobstay on a boat this size (clipper) is chain. Is this a model??

Who would leave the anchor lifting tackle in such a mess on a model ;)

It's just that it triggers this image. Then again both chain and cable were used.

Ok that makes sense. Her rigging is more for show than go thus the requirement for less size and strength. My brain was drifting to days of canvas and clipper. :)

I see that Cangarda has been extensively rebuilt and was a sunken hulk. They did a remarkable job.

Here's the clipper I advised on replating recently.
100+ years of salt water mud and poor maintenance had not been kind to the plating in the chain locker.

Was built for the kaiser apparently and taken as war reparation after ww1. Some great old steel boats around. When the paint is kept up the plating stays immaculate. Surrounding plate to the repair is still original thickness.

Yah...always nice to see the old timers live on.

    Gorch Fock , Norway

Did they decommission the American sailing ship?

Ya..there is a beautiful lap plate motorsailer in the yard now with a rotten stem and a hole under her forward crew cabin shower. Both from poor maintenance.

Steel is good stuff if you keep the bilge clean and dry.

Some People think that the bilge of a boat is naturally full of stinking black water.

    Ya!

In a steel vessel the bilges should be dry and dusty !
