I was out drifting around fishing off my kayak with my number one son when we came across this interesting craft moored in the river.

It looks as if it was welded up from sheet metal. Notice the two different bow shapes on the hulls.

Now all I need to do is upload the photos.

Laws in Western Australia are only for the purpose of the government making money.

So, you neeed a licence to drive a boat, the boat has to be licenced and you need a licence to fish from your boat as well as a licence to $hyt.

You of course need safety gear as the government makes money from the tax on the sale.

Other than that, take to the seas on whatever you like.

Last time I encountered the Water Police at the boat ramp, all they wanted to look at was PFDs, Flares and Fire Extinguisher. A EPIRB is only required if you are out of a designated zone.

Another point is West Auzzies normally buy manufactured boats and there is very little backyard boat builders (we're just too bloody lazy).

In fact I would be surprised if there are no more than 3 West Auzzies visit this forum.

I went to the members list and found on the first 2 pages in order of most recent post descending 7 from Australia. On the last 2 of 749 pages I found 3. Between page 3 and 747 (inclusive) I did not count but I believe it is substantial. So on 4 pages out of 749 there were 10. Just from that small sample the # could be 1800 Aussies.

Many of them could actually be Englishmen pretending to be Australian.
You know what social climbers they are :p

Mr Lewis of the Boats, you obviously did percieve that I qualified West Auzzies in my comment.

Whereas Mr Hoyty Toyty in an attempt to disprove my estimate of West Ozz forum members decided to include another country. ie those of the Eastern States.

It costs around $130 to fly to Indonesia and $1,200 to fly to Queensland so if you want to add up West Ozz people on this forum and want to use another country, count those from Indonesia.

OK West Ozz people, let's have a head count. It's OK you don't have to count, just post "present" Hoytedow can do the counting, he's such a smart asss.

    P.S. I love you Hoyt.

That ship looks like it's "up ship creek, without a paddle."

I did a serious double take, the first time I saw an ocean-going ship heading up the Sacramento River. From where I was parked it looked like it was sailing through dry land.
