    Thanks Hoyte...

Work on the 19' Mitchell, a little every afternoon. Have overlayed old deck, bondo, clothe ,and resined, the console. Next, to seal off the weather deck, as best I can. To cut a hole in the new decking, (making a hatch), at the deepest part of the hull, for a bilge bump, then, major transom work!

I could look at that boat for hours, looks like a Lego kit or something, nothing blends with anything else.

I wouldnt dare put it in the Design section, I dont think it belongs there!
    Thoughts anyone?

There's a nice platform at the back where you can land your fish.

Wouldnt wantto on that high bridge hanging over the bow in rough weather though. And whats that mini bridge directly under it?
Looks like its a flat pack design from Ikea with options to buy sections as you can afford it.

This is what I'm working on when I'm not on here

The is the Re-YAK-tion, the skin on frame kayak I'm building. She's 16' long and built entirely of recycled wood with no metal anywhere in her.

One of the common issues with the SOF design is that by it's very nature putting in bulkheads for flotation is nearly impossible. I've solved this issue by making the cockpit and hatches completely and individually watertight. In the event I dump it only the cockpit will flood and the other compartments will act as buoyancy chambers to keep the boat afloat. It also reduces the amount of water I have to pump out.

She's also already somewhat obsolete. I started her to be a long range cruising kayak with storage for sleeping bag, tent, food, etc etc. A couple of months ago I realized that a boat this size is impractical for the kind of paddling I want to do and that what I really need is a boat large enough to sleep in comfortably and also haul my 'yak to where I want to go. Hence the Kayak Tender design.

That said, my next one will be a cedar strip boat because they look cool and I want to get experience with the cedar strip technique due to it's similarity to cold molding.

My father-in-law picked up a partially completed kit at a garage/estate sale for almost nothing. Several types of wood on it along with extra in-lays he's doing. It looked a little rough prior to sealing, sanding and staining but based on his previous guitar building work I know it will come out great. Problem is he might not lose enough weight to fit into it, and I think it is a sea water design in fresh water Michigan.

Random picture, don't have any of the wood kayak.
