Questions on building a boat.

Hello

I am interested in building a Duch barge from a Branson kit,Thomas 50. I work as a fitter/tacker at a small fab shop in central PA USA. I am confident in my ability to assemble the pre cut parts and weld the hull, although I have never built a boat before.

After ordering,paying for,aranging shipping,recieving the kit, what is the procedure as far as paper work,inspection?, licencing,regstration,insurance or whatever is required.

I plan on building near Williamsport PA then having it trucked to (hopfully) Watkins Glen NY (150 miles away) using the marina there as a home port.

Get in contact with this guy, a retired CG Engineer. He's a poster here with his own boatbuilding website. He will be a lot of help.
