I am converting my 28' Skipjack to single diesel and wondered if someone would advise me of the correct outdrive ratio I should purchase?

I will be running a Yanmar 6LPA or 6LYA and the drive will be a Volvo Penta Duoprop DP-E. The boat, with the current twin gas setup, has a dry weight of approximately 7000lbs. I am figuring that fully loaded (fuel, crew, gear, etc.) she's probably right around 10,000lbs ... give or take.

I think I've got it handled. Sounds like I'm looking for a 1.95:1, according to a local mechanic.

Volvo Penta has charts to do the calculations for you.
