    The design fee depends on:
    - experience of designer with type of craft in question and availability of 'parent craft';
    - contents of design package; some designers would supply 3 drawings and some very detailed plans, calculations and specs;
    - number of subcontractors involved in design; if all job is done in house by one office it would be cheaper;
    - price policy of design office and 'name' of designer;

    We tend to avoid dealing with DIY builders and thus would give higher prices to them for our services, for custom designs.
    Also, the deign fee for smaller boats is relatively higher; I would say design fee for 18-30' is almost the same as manhours spent for drawings and calculations in this range is not much different.
