preserving leftover 3m 5200 adhesive

before I open a 10oz tube of 5200 I compile a list of stuff to glue so I can use as much as I can while it’s fresh.



Here’s a interesting video. I like the idea of Reynolds wrap on the spout also like the reply of a vacumn sealed bag something I could use but currently don’t have.

So maybe I can get away w/ petroleum jelly smeared around the bottom of tube the Ziploc an into freezer. what do you Guys do to preserve leftover 5200?



Since its not recommended to apply 5200 7 day cure if ambient temps drop to 40*F Probably wait till spring for next glueing.

I double bag the tubes and place in the freezer.

Buy a small tube for small jobs, and a big tube for big jobs, and throw away any leftover.
I (my Wife) wouldn’t allow harsh chemicals in the refrigerator, and I doubt that freezing is a good idea.
Try a friction feed gun instead of that ratchet type, it makes it far easier to lay out an even bead.

lots of people say they freeze but I agree w/ you freezing seams like it would just cure it. I may try but will have to be sneakie an stash under some stuff in the storage freezer.

Actually, triple zip locks, not freezer specific. I've had either the 4200 or 5200 series—I can't remember which— last for a few years in the freezer.
