Power and speed of a HUGE pontoon boat

    "only in planing mode" ? Nothing ambiguous about that. He queried whether in needed "planing strakes" or similar, clearly thinking it needs to pop up like a planing hull to reach 15 knots, it does not.

    I know exactly how I will use the boat. Exactly like I use our current boat.
    I think I will talk with some pontoon manufacturers to get a firm handle on a weight and whether two or three pontoons are recommended in the size range I'm interested in.
    My marina can get windy and is pretty tight so I would not be comfortable with a single but I do see bow thrusters specifically for pontoon boats. Maybe that will save weight/money/fuel.
