Hey i am thinking about building a hydroplane and was wondering if it would be a good idea to put a jet drive on it. I have an engine from a jet ski so was just wondering.

I built my first "Sea Flea" in '74. Think the plans were in Popular Mechanics. Took me all summer to save 'nuff money from the paper route to buy the wood. No epoxy back then, used some soft of pine tar pitch & fiberglass wallboard tape. Painted with porch paint. The steering was the front end of an old bicycle with "Monkey Hanger" handlebars! *lol* My grandpa gave me an ole' 4 HP Seagull which was just baaaaaaaarely enought to get her up on plane.

The boat lasted a couple of summers till I outgrew it. The ole' Seagull got sold in my grandpa's estate sale!(
