first of all;seadog we are all brothers.
we take the good with the bad ; if you carrie weapons ;you dont display them untill needed. nobodys riding around shooting in the air ,,,,,,,even if they did you couldnt here a shot gun go off after 5 or 7 hundred meters ;the water obsorbs the sound ,,maybe downwind on a good day would you here something.........I once saw an oil rigg explode .but heard nothing. you know .Its a messed up world we live in .I live and work in the murder capitol of ohio,IM not getting on your case . you seem like a smart guy;educate yourself on fire arms ,remove your fears and protect your family, only then other liberals will call you names ....and you wont give a damn.

arr! 'dog' me boy suprisingly enough I haven't spent all my time in 'Cornwall'! Spent quite a bit in South East Asia helping terminate pirate's contracts with life! OK it was a few years ago but they ain't changed all that much - Neither have the ones in the Red Sea/Gulf or West Africa to name a few other interesting areas I've visited! Had some good allies in the Mallaca Straits area in the Anzacs and most of them wern't no lily livered bunch of fairies - obviously hadn't met you! They (like us) didn't believe in showing off BUT if needed the wraps were off and the job was done! Sometimes talking is a waste of time - no doubt that still applies!

Or have you found in your brilliant experience that boring them to death works better!

They like us??? do tell, who is us??

Us ain't you! that's for sure. The rest remains untold

Looks like two types of people here: those who'll lay down and take it, and those who'll fight. Guess you have to decide for yourself which you are. For me, there is only one answer. If somebody tries to kill you, you try to kill them right back.
Maybe if everytime out, these thugs know that they'll face a fight, even if they know they'll win that fight, they'll find something safer to do.
Those who accept crime and live with it, make crime possible.

Exactly right, Maddyfish. And the same principle applies to Bullys in the school yard and to congressmen at the congressional bribe bazaar. If you can't be bothered to fight, eventually you will be a victum.

Remember this?

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me—
and there was no one left to speak out.

It's the same principle, and it's universal. I have been so disgusted with my silent fellow Americans who cower in fear and refuse to fight that I wrote this: http://breakthelink.org/The reason why.php

Not only do I think that you should fight to preserve yourself, I think you have a moral duty to fight. You may well lose that fight, but you do your part to preserve others in doing so.

Yes...Piracy is a global problem...and there are a lot of Pirates that wear white shirts and tie. It is necessary to have a lot more courage to fight those than too shoot at some poor ******** that have no place to drop dead. Of course they could also be courageous ******** and shoot you and your family dead instead....

Good point Vega, but I believe you still should try to defend you and yours to the best of your abilities, and, if that includes the use of lethal force so-be-it!

This forum has been discussing the best way to go about that, and the chances individuals had in the problem, unfortunately it would appear there are some who would rather roll over and die (thats up to them, what I don't like is them trying to push it down others necks, with the certain knowledge that only they are right)!

Billydock ;good point. We live in America and we are free. not perfect but we are free!But why is it always up to the Americans to save the world? I for one would like nothing more than the Iraqies to deliver thier own sons to standup and fight for themselfs.I no more want my son over there.( buy the way Im the first in my family not to serve a 20 year hitch in the service, I only served 4 in 7th specialforces and a line unit in nato.) lost 2 uncles and the best part of my father.In vietnam . did anyone critisize kofi anone when the U>N> sat by and watched millions of hutu get slaghterd? when the tsnamie hit ....we offerd money but were chastized because it wasnt enough. this money comes from my pocket, Im taxed out the ***.today we closed down 14 ford plants; at the rate its going we will be a 3rd world nation in 6 years.I would love nothing more than for us to mind our own buisiness. thats why I became a comercial fisherman.what would this world be like if America minded its own buisiness?Billydock dont get me wrong Im on your side ;but I would rather have the war over there . than here. remember they started it.

whoa there!!! I wont lay down and take anything, you come at me and mine and look out!!!...I'm giving up! on trying to make my point, someone said earlier that I was narrow minded...Well maybe I'am, I just dont want ppl in small vessels attacked, you can say carry this and carry that, but at the end of the day, you could never carry the firearms that these ppl have, so shoot away with your shotgun or whatever you are able to get, but if you can let me and others know where you are doing this, we can stay the hell away.

I agree with you and I am not a coward.

One thing is doing some very important or vital thing you have to do...and for that I would take the risks I need to accomplish. Another thing is Turing around with the family...for doing that I don’t want to take any real risk that I can avoid...lots of options.

I reserve my strength for more important and meaningful fights.

Longliner, for a change buddy I'm at odds with on this one, who started the iraqii war? :confused: Who put Mr S. Hussein in place in the first place? OK so he went bush and needed 'terminating' (why is he still about - wouldn't have been in the 'nam scenario!) As for the money offered to the Indo's for the Tsunami - ain't nobody ever learned? offer money, they want more, no matter who it is - and the poor buggers who it's for never get it anyway! :( Incidentally whilst you where playing in 'nam we were dancing with the Indons (the Anzacs were doing both [we were to in small numbers but won't admit it, I've said enough]!:cool:
The good thing was we won (sorry to rub it in, different scenario, different war - we called it a police action, those who got dead got just as dead but it was a police action)! :p

Hey Seadog is there a heart of a Lion under that pussycat exterior - get the feeling that when the baddies come a running you might be manning the parapet alongside us :eek: (this time it looks like 'us' includes you) - probably ***** like hell afterwards, but at least there will be an afterwards!:D
