Probably a dumb question but is there a way of repainting the outdrive units to prevent algie build up in fresh water? My boat sits all summer in a Lake Erie marina & even brushing it off periodically it seems rather extreme. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks to all who reply. erie1

There are some antifouling paints available for outdrives, although I'm not sure how they like fresh water. Just be careful what you paint; for instance, the zinc anodes and their mounts must remain bare metal in order to work.

They make paint for aluminum parts in spray cans.
