PVC core

Hi, this is specification of China produced PVC core I have recieved. Any comments will be apriciated

 

Seems pretty similar to Divinycell H80 apart from a lower tensile strength and modulus. Being used a core, the shear and compressive numbers should be the go to factors so it seems okay.

Did you have to buy a pallet? Where do you get it?

It looks pretty similar except for the lower tensile results.

Tensile modulus - stiffness is quite different for the different foams.

Divinycell H 80 - 96MPa - Corecell - 80 - 72 MPa - Your 80D - 58MPa Airex - 54MPa

So it seems like your foam is more like Airex than Divinycell or Corecell. Airex is very tough and easier to work than divinycell. I would look more into the requirements for an Airex type foam for decks in hot weather. IIRC Airex is sometimes not used for decks because of this. You may want to look into it further.

It should be much easier to work with than the Divinycell or Airex when you need to push it into shape. Not so much need for a hot box.

 

The price is very tempting. USD 32 for 20 mm and USD 41 for 25 mm.

 

I am sourcing for my project of 40 ft cat. And have recived this offer from China composite materials suplier. All together complete offer for 2 (two)cats
with glass, 200 m2 300g uni carbon and complete set of materials for infusion is about USD 22000. Which is pretty amaizing compered to the prices in EU. Its double qnty because of min order requirement.

 

You're not just using uni with the foam are you? Foam needs a balanced laminate like biax unless there are areas of highly directional load. Maybe you are going to double laminate the uni +-90 like Kelsall used to do in the old days. He was very clever with foam.

 

Basic lamination of PVC will be with 1200 gr triax. Uni carbon is only for some reinforcements.

 

Does this core come with marine certificate?
