    Hi all,

I searched around (not too much) and have found no outboard motor under 15HP with an electric starter.

Does anyone know of any model out there with an electric start?
Can a conventional outboard with hand crank be modified to have a starter? Has anybody done it?

    Thank you in advance

Atleast Honda and Mercury have 10hp models with electric start.

Local differences perhaps? Under specifications manual/electric starting is listed, also for 8hp model.

Here the local importer lists the following models with electric start: BF10 SHSU/LHSU, SRU/LRU and BF 8 SHSU/LHSU models. H for tiller, R for remote control.

Lifting the hood quickly reveals if there is a hole pattern for the starter motor next to the flywheel. Small Mercury engines have it. They are produced by Tohatsu, probably other Japanese engines can be retrofitted if your local importer doesn't stock electric starting models.
