    Oh, I'm for real.
I'll survive even if I have to eat cityslickers.
I'm MORE interested in avoiding the inevitable societal collapse you socialists are desperately trying to force.
I need to google for a socialist cookbook. How would you spice a socialist to get rid of the perpetual sourness and the odor of corruption? :p

Wholesale slaughter of animals? You mean livestock of course.
"You can have the deer, sir, just let me get my saddle off first!" :D

3 United States 630.02 per 1 million people 2004 under very strict patent laws.

We MUST enforce the US federal government to obey the power restictions of the 10th amendment.
    We MUST halt immigration.
We MUST preserve our individualistic society.
We WILL! One way or the terrible way. What ever is required!

With that type of attitude you will only survive a few months longer. Big deal.

Individualism only works well when you have a low human population density and a lot of natural resources to exploit. As an earlier post pointed out, populations are exploding and resources are dwindling. If we humans are going to survive without enormous social upheavals we need to become more socially cooperative, not less. All you 'preppers' are very short-sighted. 'Me', 'my' and 'I' are all you are interested in.

    You misunderstand. Not surprised.
I'm not a prepper. Been putting wild meat on the table since I was a boy.
    More than half a century!
    I'm a Vietnam veteran.

    I'm a patriot.
    I'm a strict constitutional constructionist.
    I'm an individualist and traditionalist.
You may succeed in destroying the USA from within, but you won't steal it.
Actually, I believe there are more patriots than socialists in this country.
If we stop immigration, I suggest NOW, our population will stop growing.
Any more populous nation foolish enough to invade us would face a rifle behind every tree and rock.

Each research is not perfect and free of critics.
Each theory is made to be contested, otherwise is not a scientific theory but a dogma.
I've already read some of your article that you suggest us to read. From that it's difficult to say that "The China study" is totally wrong, also because the amount of data coming from Campbell's study which confirms his ideas, is huge compared to other studies that say the opposite.

What's the reality? USA investments in healthcare per person are incredibly higher than other countries, but people health status seems to be worst than other countries. The main reason is the diet, rich of animal fat, animal proteins, sugar and under control of corporations who don't care about money rather than their clients health.

About hunting, for me it's a hobby. I like fishing and usually I catch and release. We cannot feed world population with hunting, it's sound silly.

About government systems, I don't know what you mean exactly with socialism. If you mean a system with strong social welfare, I would tell you that they could adopt it because they are rich countries comparing to their population. For example Denmark population is about 6 millions and I think New York city is about 9 millions.

You've got blinkers on your blinders, all the while staring fixedly into the rear-view mirror.

The Vietnam war accomplished exactly what?

You think that because you've been able to shoot table meat for the last 50 years that you will continue to do the same for the next 50 years, even while populations increase and open spaces decrease.

You think that because George Washington was able to establish a nation using muzzle-loaders, you, too, will be able to accomplish heroic deeds while hiding behind a tree with your pea-shooter.

Thanks for pointing out the scale difference in the countries.
Our founders knew small area local governments govern best.
That's what state governments are for and why they're called states, not provinces..
Tyrannical huge central govt always ends up like the USSR and ancient Rome.

True, hunting can't feed the entire USA. But venison can reduce the dependence on agribiz beef.

Deer forage mostly on mast. Such as acorns fallen to the ground beneath oaks.
Cattle are fed on grain suitable for human food.
Set aside bankrupt farmed out farm lands as additional deer lands.
Re-mineralize the soil with crushed rock and metal shavings, ect.
Plant fast growing oaks and Pasture.
The deer are better at unattended survival than cattle.

In 2013, the population of cattle in the U.S. hit its lowest point since the 1950s.

It might not look like it from the line at the fast-food drive-through, but America’s herd size has actually been in decline since its peak in 1975, when 132 million cattle grazed on American pastures – or at least munched corn on American soil.

Today, the number is down to about 89 million, a gradual 33-percent drop from the peak over the past 38 years.

How about deer ranching to replace some beef ranching?
And hunting classes in public schools!

Vietnam gave me experience in hunting other than table meat.
I think they were socialists, communists, substantially same thing.

There is no need for USA population to grow any further.
    No life style changes.
No draconian laws about fertility or abortion or birth control.
American women do that by choice already.
Just shut the gates and keep the horde out!
30 million plus deer, should keep me happy for awhile.
More being born every year? COOL!
Wake up and smell the cordite before you smell the sulfur!

I'm not sure that's anything to be proud of...

Agree. But it is happening whether we like it or not.

I'm less worried about the women and more worried about the men! ;)

How many wives and children did you say you've had? I know. Unfair question. Hitting below the belt (ahem). [IMG]

Not if there are 300 million people hunting them!

"I'm not sure that's anything to be proud of..."

    I'm sure!
    I wasn't drafted, I volunteered.

US population is growing, only due to immigration. Birth rate is less than sufficient to maintain population. Has been since 1972.
    stop immigration? stops population increase.

How many children have I sired? Let's see..pulling off my shoes so I can use toes as well...
Darn it! I KNEW I should have collected ears from them too! ....
    lost count. :D

In reality, I have 3 children by two wives, and 3 more step children.
And in Vietnam, I quit counting kills the first week...didn't want to know the year's end total. And I never take trophies!
But I arrived there just in time for the TET offensive, fiercest fighting of the entire war.

Yobarnacle, we understand that you like meat, hunting and venison. Now we're discussing, we are not in the battlefield. I'm sharing my opinion and I'm understanding a lot from you, try to do the same from us. I tell you a little story, Our body has:
a economic system that gives money according the substance of work done and preserve the excess.
a research and development department that creates technologies, chemicals, equally as we do with steel, phone ec.
a sustainable system that purifies air, water more advanced than each other in our world. The same for heating and cooling
a communication system faster and complex than our internet optical fiber
a law system that judge and forgive cells according to their behaviours
a social welfare system that provides all cells the right quantity of food and water
a immune system that protects all cells and the body
how could they do this ? Cooperating, not fighting each other, we should stop any kind of war in the world, our body tells it.

If we start eating venison we're moving the problem not solving it. As you said cattle are fed with grain that we could eat. So we loose our potential food to feed steers and then make big macs. This is the definition of inefficiency.

If it weren't for totalitarian centralized government types trying to take away what isn't theirs, there wouldn't be any wars.

Our body is ruled by the brain. The other parts don't think, only feed data to the brain, and are controlled by it. Harm to any body part causes sensation of pain in the brain.
Do you envision any society working that way?
The USA isn't perfect. I have worked, made friends, and got along all over the world.
    I'm multi-lingual. I'm not a warmonger.
There are problems best solved locally, by those who understand regional consequences.
ALL those in favor of a powerful central authority, delude themselves, that THEY will play the part of the brain, but disassociated, anaesthetized from the pain of remote members.
I'm telling them they WILL suffer excruciating pain and deprivation, and in the end, win only ashes, if they win. Which is doubtful.
US current fed govt IS too powerful, and IS DOOMED unless we return to the constitution. Only the constitution establishes, authorizes, and restricts federal power.
Disregard the restrictions, the authority likewise disappears. Accept it ALL (the constitution) or get NOTHING! No constitution, =no federal government!

As I pointed out, a vegan diet will not supply the essential minerals because the minerals are gone from the farms that would raise the veggies.
Some other food source, such as venison, that can subsist on browse, inedible by humans, on unutilized, mineral rich lands, is a very good partial option and solution.

It has more merit than carbon taxes or re-inventing the USA as a copy of failed governments.
    ciao

Reading Yobs outrageous repeat raving and boasting about himself every time, the more I can confirm the conclusions that killing life with no consideration for living species shows a lower conscience of mind, now he boast about killing people and at some stages eating people which confirms his Me My and I statues of selfishness and self-rightness.
Yob states he lost count of his kills in the first week in Vietnam but did not take trophy’s “ears” but has since edited this out.

I have never eaten anybody and did not claim I did.
In response to imaginarynumbers naïve claim that novice clumsy hunters were going to slay all the game, I retorted then I'd have to eat them instead.
    Neither will happen.
You must think the world is a terrible place.
Every life form consumes some other life form. It's called the food chain.
    Everything dies. Eventually.

When I first reported for military service, as a teenage soldier, we were told following orders exactly, was extremely important.
A matter of life and death.
Every year, a number of recruits were accidentally killed during training, because they disregarded orders.
It was perfectly legal to kill some of us in the course of training, but we were not to worry.
    They couldn't EAT us.
I was very relieved, and surprised to be relieved.
Upon reflection, I discovered, I wasn't much afraid of dying, but of being eaten.
Old childish nightmares of being eaten!
I instantly stopped being a child.
The military knows and understands that psychology. Hence the lecture.

Murder is UNLAWFULLY killing another human being.
Killing people in war, or in self defense, or when executing criminals, IS LAWFUL, is not murder, and is not wrong.
Certainly killing animals to eat, isn't wrong.
But if YOU think it is, then it WOULD be wrong for you to do it.
A violation of conscience for you.
My conscience is clean, and doesn't bother me. I did my lawful patriotic duty. Your conscience doesn't bother me either. :D

This is false, you have no idea what you are talking about: I ate vegan for many years. I know a lot about nutrition and take care of my health, this is what it got me: I kept gaining weight each year, a little at a time, to the borderline of being obese (29 percent body fat). I developed a per-diabetic condition (on my way to full blow diabetes), I had developed leaky gut syndrome (from eating grain), I was suffering nutritional deficiencies as shown in numerous blood tests, I also been developing bad joints, edema in the legs, poor circulation, sleep apnea (a hazardous health condition by itself), low thyroid, low adrenaline, amoung other health related issues. And consider that I now eat up to 70 percent less food to stay healthy and active, which means my total impact to the environment has greatly gone down. Consider if everyone could cut the total amount of food they eat in half, what kind of enviromental benefit that would have. You will take much more land to grow enough food to feed a vegan population. And the medicals costs to that population would skyrocket as well.

All this because I swallowed the stupid MYTH and lie about how healthy a vegan diet is supposed to be.

All of those conditions went away after I switched to a diet, designed by a real doctor (not some quack pushing the myth of the so-called benefits of vegetarianism), high in animal protein. I cut my food intake by 60 to 70 percent, I lost 50 lbs, body fat down to 16 percent, all the medical issues gone, I was never hungry while I lost weight. I sleep better, have more endurance, now no health issues at all.

If you repeat the mindless lie that eating meat is is a myth, I will no longer be able to stay polite.

Stop pushing the mythology of your religious beliefs of the benefits of vegetarianism. There has NEVER been a large population of humans that were pure vegans. Humans are not vegan, never have been. it is only modern superstitions that make gullible people think that being vegan is somehow healthy. It is not.
