Where on Earth did you get the idea that Lincoln would approve of trickle-down economics? That was Reagan's voodoo....

I tracked down the quote. Here it is again along with the sentences that followed it, to put it in context.

Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration. Capitalism has its rights, which are as worthy of protection as any other rights. Nor is it denied that there is, and probably always will be, a relation between labor and capital, producing mutual benefits. The error is in assuming that the whole labor of the community exists within that relation....

Abraham Lincoln: the Prairie Years and the War Years, by Carl Sandburg, page 271. Previewed on Google Books.

    http://books.google.com/books?id=EP...serves much the higher consideration.&f=false

He's right, you know. Man was living by the sweat of his brow for thousands of years before any capitalists came along.....

These days capital seems to be able to be conjured out of thin air and being so insubstantial disappears as easily.

If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and a man.

    WARNING!

There is one matter you should be warned of.
This poster has recently admitted that he has a (thinking problem). Its something like a drinking problem.

Coming from an area of "non-thinkers" and not knowing any "thinkers" there really shouldnt have been any natural tendencies or weaknesses in this area, but nonetheless if happened. It could happen to you, or someone you love.

It all started when a friend long suspected of being a thinker offered a "social think". It was declined, but he insisted "just try one think." At first there was hesitation, but figured what could one little "think" hurt. That was the first mistake. That first "think", the feeling it gave, it really felt good. So another was partaken, and before realization of what was happening, there was one right after another.

Its really embarrissing to admit it now, but all self control was lost and before the night was over, I was pretty well "thunk."

What would friends and family say? Goody a problem "thinker?" Tried hard to keep it hidden, but when you have a "thinking" problem, word gets around.

Besides "social thinking" is so easy to do. Sometimes sneaking off to have a "think" on my own, at other times seeking places where "thinkers" congregate to hang out with other "thinkers."

When you surround yourself with "thinkers" everything seems so normal. But eventually, the world of "non-thinkers" returns.

It wasnt long before the "thinking" began to affect work and got caught several times. People notice when you "think," "thinking" can interfere with just about everything. Finally friends and family surrounded me one night and said, "look Goody, we care and want to help you with your problem."

"What problem, what are you talking about?" (I was in denial), but they had me outnumbered. They were right, in no time at all I had become a "heavy thinker."

Later, realization was made that it wasnt me they were concerned about, it was themselves. When "non-thinkers" are around even on single "thinker," the "non-thinkers" life can be a veritable hell of mental confusion. "Non-thinkers" lives are very simple and uncluttered and they like to keep it that way. Believe me, I know being a "non-thinker" for many years. Until that first "social think....."

All the traditional cures were tried. Watching television and forcing myself to laugh at the sitcoms and stupid jokes that "non-thinkers" enjoy to no end, but it only brought more temptations to "think."

Went so far as to join "thinkers anonymous" for a while, but just couldnt bring myself to stand up in front of that crowd of pitiful people and confess that,

"My name is Goody and I have a "thinking problem." How humiliating!

Even immersed myself in current events, and meaningless chatter with "non-thinkers" about the latest trends, the movies, and music. Pretended to be enriched by the nonsense which filled the daily newspapers, but it was all hopeless. After a relatively short time of "non-thinking," an insatiable desire to have a "think" would overcome me. Give me a "think!" Any "think". Just lead me to the nearest "think." A lite "think." A mixed "think." It didnt matter, just get me a "think."

Sometimes I'd stay "thunk" for days. Nobody could stand me except for my "thinking" friends. They understood, they all had the same problem with their "non-thinking" friends.

Spent hours wondering, "why cant they world just be full of "thinkers?" Then we could all get along. Is there really anything so wrong with "thinking?"

As you read this, please be forewarned that if you succumb to the temptation to take even one little "think" along the way, it may forever alter you life.

If you're a "non-thinker", you still have time. If you ignore this WARNING right now, you have a very good chance of continuing on in life in a relatively unruffled fashion. You dont have to endure the hardships that people with a "thinking" problem have to live with day in and day out.

But, then, maybe you already are a "thinker." If so, lets do some serious "thinking" together. In Isaiah 1:18 the Lord beckons us,

"Come now, let us reason (think) together....."

"… all wear green," said a soft but very distinct voice, beginning in the middle of a sentence, "and Delta Children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly colour. I'm so glad I'm a Beta."
There was a pause; then the voice began again.
"Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm really awfuly glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able …"
The Director pushed back the switch. The voice was silent. Only its thin ghost continued to mutter from beneath the eighty pillows.
"They'll have that repeated forty or fifty times more before they wake; then again on Thursday, and again on Saturday. A hundred and twenty times three times a week for thirty months. After which they go on to a more advanced lesson."
