Optimum location to mount new GPS receiver

I think I’ve finalized the design of my new NMEA2K network. From left to right terminater,MFD,GPS power in middle to help distribute the 12VDC evenly, extension cable 4way port, fuel tank1,2, engine terminator.

I’m hopping the 6.5’ extension will be long enough to have the 4 way close enough where the 13’ engine cable reachs if not I’ll either use a T an relocate the terminator to the T or get longer extension cable.

Please advise on Optimum location to mount new Garmin GPS24XD receiver front or rear of roof?

I have the anchor light in front section of roof the antenna is a tad higher than the light.

Additionaley I plan a smallish LED light next to the anchor light both will be lower than the antenna. Thanks for any advise.

I have the same Garmin GPS antenna. I used PVC glue to glue the GPS puck three legged mount to the center of the top of my Garmin Phantom radar dome. I ran the cord down the side of the dome and have noticed no masking in the image. The mount will never come loose. Great bond. Fantastic radar. View pictures from Bonkers in another post to see the mounted GPS/heading sensor.

the anchor light has what I believe to be not just miunt holes but they also act as vents to keep bulb cool. also notice the ridge I'm assumming this light shouldn't be mounted completely flate basicely suffacating the bulb? so I have is cocked a tad.

I fabbed a small rectangle of aluminum sandwiched buytal glue.. GPS pole is tight on mount plate plan to smear some 5200 under base.

the three legged mount is for under deck, it's to flimsy for above deck.

Glued solidly, it would take a lot to break it. Last year I had a 24' tarp stretched over it and it wore a hole in the tarp but wasn't affected by the tarps wild flapping. This winter I set an inner tube around it on top of the radar so the new tarp would not wear through.

I've had two of those same lights mounted with caulk without problems. They don't get hot.

LEDs are notorious for electronic interference. They should be far from the antenna.

Does the brow have enough room to mount the antenna-unit. Saves punching a hole in the cabin top.
