That's so sad. Perhaps they should build another without the elevators so some of those fabulous ideas we had in this thread can be tried out. The creative juices were flowing so freely. I truly felt the solution to the worlds' problems ws going to emerge at any moment. Well, not really, but those damned architects have no imagination; just another convenient, confortable home for the deserving rich . . .

Bring them up with a winch and lower them with a bungee cord.

Yes Hoyt. I was playing around with that idea. There is a space in between the two building. They only need to swing from side to side to get to their floor.:D

They could do like the Chinese and lay the building on it's side and eliminate the need for elevators.

Yes, this is very space saving, it should be introduced on boats with standing headroom . . .

    Cheers,

Good. Now I can continue to whine about absent broom closets.:p

Some of the articles did say that the building lacked functional elevators.
Maybe the buttons only went up to the original number of floors.

I just can't get one image out of my head - some middle-aged widget installer showing up at 8 am - walking up to the 25th floor - takes morning break - walks rest of way to 47th floor and talks to sup for ten minutes - then time for lunch - needs to go get a tool he forgot - etc.

I think most of it is marketing hype.

They are desperate to sell units, why not fake the news they have 'no elevators,' so they can cover up the fact there will never be complete functioning elevators for these million dollar money pits ....

I was reading a month ago (in Ukraine), they were wanting to seize the units from existing owners, so they could 'break even' on this ....

Bankrupt means you have little previous debt, you are supposedly almost done (90%).

But you need to resell units (many million dollar units), so you can 'break even?'

I am not sure I would buy one for $20,000. Even if I saw it had an elevator.

    :)

Didn't appear to be chasing anyone; must have been an emergency of some sort, like a donut sale . . .

Apparently they got a call from the party boat a little ways offshore (they blew past it after smashing the boat) saying that someone had gone overboard. Frankly... I am horrified that they were blasting around in the water like that with the potential for someone floating around after having fallen overboard. They would be on, over and puree-ing before ever seeing a bobbing head.
