    Welcome to the forum.

What are you trying to accomplish with the paravane, in particular, that can't be accomplished in some other fashion?

Righting moment. And the boat do not need any modification. the righting arm is the whole mast. The problem is when it jump from the water .

    HI ariel.

Congratulation for your video. There is 2 problems: 1 your paravane float. 2 the angle of attack of the "paravane mast". You have 2 point to regulate the angle of the "wing" but you need a third point to regulate the angle of the vertical part of you "reverse T". it's easy to do, i have done it a few years ago.

Paravane works very well…when it's flat. When the swell get bigger it's not the same story. It could be the reason why it's not popular for cruiser.

I am trying with surface piercing floater (bottle) to regulate the high. Another problem is the pitching. That make the foil varies the speed. Do you have any picture of your paravane? Regards

You might take a look at the Cglider by Luc Armant.

Also search for articles about the "hapa". This is something that has been the subject of a lot of experimentation by members of the Amateur Yacht Research Society.

I will try to control the force from the boat independent of the surface and depending of the list of

You can maybe try that, it's autostable. You can find a system to make it adjustable to find the good angle.

Very interesting. By the way, where did you film it? I can't recognize the coastline and it is driving me crazy.

    Has already been done successfully.
Check with Alexander Sahlin, he has succeeded in what you are looking for.

He also had a paravane on a regular sailboat.
He knows what he's talking about.

Wouldn't a paravane increase the compression load on the rig quite dramatically?

When Salin tacks with the paravane, as he does in the second video, what happens if the boat is not slowed enough for the line from the masthead to the paravane to get clear of the bow?

    gggGuest ...

On the other hand, with all the load from the paravane on the rig, would you need a whole lot less static rig tension? I haven't thought it through, done the sums or drawn the diagrams, but as you say there's a whole lot of force going in, maybe it can accomplish something secondary?

And if all the primary loads can be confined to the mast/paravane system, does that mean there are opportunities for weight saving elsewhere in the structure?
