"For 30 years, the sponge industry was the largest industry in Florida—larger than citrus or tourism. Tarpon Springs was known as the “Sponge Capital of the World.”

"In the 1940s, blight reduced the growth of sponges. By the 1950s, sponging as a profitable industry was nearly wiped out. However, in the 1980s, new sponge beds were found. Now, Tarpon Springs is back to being a leader in the world’s natural sponge market."

The Florida sponge industry contributed to the growth of the head boat industry in Florida.

When I was a kid in the sixties, my father started his business, Double Eagle Enterprise. He was all set to buy an old converted sponge boat, of which Florida's marinas were filled, for the party fishing business. He decided the maximum 8 knot cruising speed could be improved upon by building new. This, he'd get his passengers out farther and still fish longer hours and catch bigger fish.

I don't know how he came up with the idea, maybe it was Clark Mills, a good family friend, but he then decided that if he was building new, he should go for really fast and decided on a catamaran design. At the time, no power catamarans had been built to do what he wanted to do.

Clark wouldn't design the first one, too many people thought it wouldn't work and Clark didn't have a foundation to work from. I don't remember, I was maybe 5 at the time, who designed the number one. It was built of glass covered plywood at Clearwater Bay Marine Ways, by Clark. She was the first powered catamaran licensed by the Coast Guard to carry passengers. There's the Anderson's boat in Panama City, that make the same claim. who knows.

The number one could do 17-18 knots. She could fish 65 miles off shore while her competitors were out at half that distance.

Clark designed and built the number two, 20180406_053910.jpg here's my father with two test models to see how they rode behind a boat.

This was all because the dead sponge industry had lots of old boats to turn into headboats.

Climate change is causing Antarctica's snow to turn green, study says

In coastal Antarctica, some snow isn't white, it's green, caused by microscopic algae blooming across the surface of the snow.. And while small amounts of the green snow have been visible for years, it's starting to spread across the continent because of climate change. Green snow appears along the Antarctic coast, growing in "warmer" areas, where the average temperatures reach just above freezing in the summer.

The team found that the distribution of green snow algae is strongly influenced by marine birds and mammals, because their excrement works extremely well as fertilizer. But the results of the study indicate that green snow will massively spread as global temperatures rise.

The study was published in the journal Nature Communications.

All the icebergs were photo-shopped into the image from Greenland, and the clouds were altered as well. Furthermore, the scientist is not wearing the correct clothes. And s/he couldn't have gotten there without a boat, and there is no boat, so probably s/he was photo-shopped into the image, or else the boat was removed. Probably didn't have the correct motor on it anyway. And where are the penguins? No genuine photo can possibly be from Antarctica unless it has a penguin in it!

This photo reeks of FRAUD!!!

So, in your vocabulary the ones who reveal fraudulent pictures are trolls, that makes you even more implausible.
It's proven to have happened before, and there's no reason to assume it won't happen again, so yes, unless proven to be real, it could be a fraud again.

And not only that, often real pictures are posted out of their context, to create a false illusion, that's also fraudulent, as I've pointed out in post #3636.

Don't Trolls live under bridges? I don't. Wait, wait a moment!
My captains cabin was the next half deck below and just aft the bridge!
On some vessels the deck beneath the bridge.
For thirty years of my fifty year career, I slept in the masters quarters below the bridge.
Maybe that does qualify me as a troll!

    Which mythical hominid is green?
Shrek was green and supposedly an Ogre.
    Is IN green? An Ogre?
Or is he turning purple with apoplexy?
    What kinda critter is purple?
    Barney?

The pengun did not condescend to be in the photo! After all, he IS an Emperor!
Doesn't associate with common scientists, only the rich and famous ones.
Green snow? green probably indicates presence of chlorophyll and a CO2 sink!
Nature to the rescue! The earth has an autoimmune system just as we do! Great designs!

    ;)
    Now! All levity aside!

Something inspirational! Observe this little girls delight in the sea! About midway in the docu, she gets a trip to the beach. Despite abject poverty beyond imagining, she is such a cheerful spirit! Self reliant, she earns money for food by recycling. I'm sure you'll approve. I love her optimism!

We have serious urgent problems to solve. Green snow, CO2, and polar bears don't compare to human suffering in my book!

The docu is dated 2014 and she was eight when filmed and maybe nine when finished filming (last segment says 6 months later), so calculating maybe she is fifteen-ish now? A difficult age! We can hope!
Another girl sponsored by a different charity made it!

There has been a ton of research showing that the poor of the world will be the first to be seriously harmed by AGW, and will suffer the most. If you really were as concerned about the poor of the world as your crocodile-tears post suggests, you would take AGW much more seriously. Instead, you hide behind the false assurances of the pseudo-scientific charlatans of the world to defend your unconscionable inaction and opposition.

There has been a ton of research showing developing nations will need carbon fuels to lift themselves out of poverty, until a suitable substitute comes along.

    Again with the personal attacks.
Pathetic non-argument, no points, just vitriol.
I am indeed sorry for you, because I am not getting any of the ulcers, anxiety, stress, and .toxic hate you are brewing for yourself.
If I were vindictive, I would think your distress was earned and karmic justice.
I am not vindictive and recommend you calm yourself before you blow a gasket!
