Now, since he has nothing but inanities with which to dispute AGW, hoytedow is instead trying to get the thread removed by promoting alt-right political theories and demonizing nations.

This whole thread exists to promote a certain political view. If both sides of the argument aren't allowed to be expressed, perhaps the thread should be closed. Sincerely.

Once again, an incredibly egocentric point of view.
There are a lot of other countries doing it better for their citizens than the US.

Your comments remind of of Donald Trump, commenting on Australia's healthcare system " I don't think yours is better than ours"
He had no idea either that the USA is well behind many other countries in Healthcare, Civilian Safety, Housing, Education etc.

Its a comment on the USA when the wealthiest economy in the world has the highest incarceration rates ( some "Land of the Free") , the biggest Rich/Poor ratio, the worst Housing crisis in 200 years ( and the GFC reputation still stinks in the worlds nostrils)

EDIT - I just noticed the comments from the moderator about keeping politics, and thats a good point.

So, in the spirit of the thread, there is a contribution , where it seems France is taking the lead in Climate Change initiatives

"Macron and French research minister Frédérique Vidal announced the 18 initial grants at a Paris event held on the eve of the One Climate Summit, which aims to harness global financial backing for climate action on the 2-year anniversary of the Paris climate accord."

Probably a good time to reiterate the request: let's please keep replies in the thread focused on Ocean News.

Here is a list of other forums where political topics and lengthy political or nationalistic debate would be welcome: https://www.google.com/search?q=politics forum

    Thanks.

I am done with this thread. You know my position on the matter so just read my posts since 2009 if you need a reminder. Please close this propaganda thread as you closed the others. It is all garbage anyhow.

    Thanks BDM
It would be great to concentrate on the Science of the topic, and avoid the rhetoric. Sorry for rising to the bait in the past.

Anyway, some recent comment that places the emphasis back on Oceans.
While air temperature and land based warming may be controversial, the Ocean is a firm indicator on what CO2 is doing.

""Humans need to see themselves as part of a global system and understand the many ways we depend on the ocean and its services. ....
Experiments and analyses carried out by more than 250 scientists from 20 German institutions clearly indicate that ocean acidification and warming, along with other environmental stressors, impair life in the ocean.

I see NASA has arranged a press conference for Thursday, regarding an exoplanet discovery supposedly. Maybe they have found another "watery" world.

Afraid not. It wanders a long way from the Sun. Its probably equivalent to Pluto.

Anyway, I dont think you or I will be able to afford the ticket :-(

Exoplanet, meaning not of our solar system. They must be on to something interesting, or would not have called this, there have been thousands of exoplanets found so far, though the details are scant. One interesting point, most rocky worlds (like Earth) appear to be somewhat larger than ours. I am intrigued as to what might have been detected, given that exoplanets have become ho-hum. Could be they have discovered a planet with oxygen in the atmosphere, I am not sure if that is even possible at the extreme range involved.

As if Hitler, Churchill, Pearl Harbor, Claire Chennault and the Flying Tigers have anything to do with AGW. Instead of closing the thread, perhaps there is another solution.
    That will work. Thank you.

Once again, as in our battle for independence, as in our Statue of Liberty, as in inventing French Fries, France steps forward.

Here’s How Far the World Is From Meeting Its Climate Goals | New York Times

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
    WORLD EMISSIONS
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
    US EMISSIONS
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

See NY Times article for similar charts for the European Union, China and India.

It's interesting that China is the only country (of those featured) whose current emissions are less than pledged emissions -- though everyone is way over what's needed to stay below 2C.
