I love that about Europe - you can move freely through 25 countries and never need your passport. It's a noble experiment and I hope small minds don't destroy it. I see it as a vision of the future. Some hate the thought, I embrace it.

It works basically because no one country is that much better than another. If there was a better one then most people would try to move to that.

Hence the mass attempts risking life or limb to get there from India Pakistan for example.

When all the backward places wise up then it would be possible for the whole world to be open. Your place of residence chosen entirely by your choice of climate.

There very well may be a flow in the opposite direction.

That's kind of a pointless rant.

I get tired of hearing how Americans are going to take our country back -- as though we've been invaded by a foreign power, or as though our current leaders were installed by some sort of coup, instead of being elected by those 'fellow Americans' you so blithely want to rely on.

And good luck trying to throw the members of the Supreme Court out in the street, with or without pensions.

You make Social Security sound like some sort of welfare giveaway. It isn't; people have to pay money in to get money out.

And if a government worker pays into Social Security, he has as much right to collect it as anyone else. Why should having a pension from a government job disqualify someone, when having a pension or 401k plan from a private corporation doesn't?

I think you're confusing ordinary government workers with police chiefs, school supervisors and the like -- who nowadays often retire one day, get rehired and show up for work the next day anyway, and start collecting their pension alongside their salaries.

Or legislators like those in South Carolina -- who after retiring collect triple their annual salary for the rest of their lives, while the average state worker gets screwed. Or those in Missouri -- who meet for five months a year, collect an annual salary for it that's roughly comparable to what average state workers make working full-time, then get retirement benefits 30% higher than those workers.

Maybe it's time you stopped dumping on government workers, and went after their bosses instead....

They still, in spite of everything the current regime has done to it, keep trying to come here to this country. What does that tell you?

The poor are laughing as they say the EU just created a honey pot ( thats foreign poor, local poor are on the street)
