Try mousing the existing oar locks before replacing them.

    thanks Milehog,
    I have thought about mousing?...
and its still a possibility. I think I'm simply gonna have to try both. I'm wondering if locking oar locks would simplify feathering, particularly near the end of a long row, where one gets a littile tired :D

And of course not having enough oar lock experience, its hard to list the pro and cons. However in high in sight, it won't be too expensive to try both and see which I like better.

mousing could very well be the way to go.

Is that Frosty's hand I see up at the back of class?!
nice to see you Frosty :)

Using some for of rope, leather (or whatever),
to lash (close) the top of the oar lock and prevent the oars from jumping out.

(not putting extreme amounts of greasy stuff in my hair :D)

best description I can give anyway.
