    Hi!
    1st post, go gently :)

    [DOH! NBS not NBS!]

I am looking for a copy of the NBS referred to in the latest (and previous) edition(s) of Principles of Yacht Design:

    Chapter 12: Rig Construction,
This chapter deals with the dimensioning and construction of the rig. Over the years different methods have evolved, ranging from old rules of thumb for solid wooden spars to sophisticated computer models for exotic composite materials. We will take a middle line, using accepted standard engineering practices as they are used in the Nordic Boat Standard (NBS). The reason for using this NBS standard instead of ABS or Lloyd’s Register is the simple fact that NBS is one of the few yacht scantling standards that takes the rig into consideration.

My investigations so far (including posts on boatdesign.net) have led me to:

    1. Nordisk båt standard :yrkesbåter under 15 meter (NBS: COMMERCIAL boats under 15 m)
There are both Norwegian & English versions of this available on the net:

    https://cefor.no/globalassets/docum...1990/nordic-boat-standard-1990-nbs1990-no.pdf

    https://www.sdir.no/contentassets/c946b0426dc14ea480c17b64098fae53/nordic-boat-standard-part-1.pdf
    https://www.sdir.no/contentassets/c946b0426dc14ea480c17b64098fae53/nordic-boat-standard-part-2.pdf

HOWEVER, that is NOT the one I want,

The one I do want is this:
    2. Nordisk båt standard : fritidsbåter under 15 meter (NBS: RECREATIONAL boats under 15 m)

    The reference for this is,
Nordisk Bat Standard (1990), ”Fritidsbater under 15 meter”, Det Norske Veritas, Oslo
    https://www.boatdesign.net/attachments/7-issc2009v8sailingyachtdesign-pdf.148212/
So probably it was developed by DNV

However, I just cant find a copy of it anywhere, except for this which doesnt allow me to see it - I think (my Portuguese is OK but Norwegian is out of my scope)

    Maken https://www.nb.no/maken/item/URN:NBN:no-nb_digibok_2012050408089

Can anyone direct me to a copy I can read, please?

I know its been superseded (ISO?), I wont be using it, but I really want to see a copy - its just in my nature - that's why I am an academic (LeighSutherland.com – Research Engineer https://leighsutherland.com/) who has dabbled a tiny bit in design (Composite Sailing Ship Spars – LeighSutherland.com https://leighsutherland.com/ship-spars/), but most of all I am a sailor (50 + years, still a learner of course) and a mechanic's son :)

    Leigh

PS this isnt my only line of research on this document, but I am hopeful, seems like an amazing forum :)
