I have recently bought a used 23ft cabin cruiser and have been doing some work on it because the deck was rotten after taking up the deck i realized I only have bulkheads through out the boat 2ft apart but I don't see any stringers running the length of the boat .....is this a problem can I leave it or must I put in two stringers the length of the boat

    Welcome to the Forum Dre.

I think that your 'bulkheads' are probably transverse frames - if they are only 2' apart then that should provide a fairly strong structure.
    How old is the boat?
She seems to have survived for a long time without any longitudinal stringers.
Can you post a photo or two of the boat, or tell us what make she is please?
Are you down to a bare hull shell now, ie you have completely removed the deck and cabin (and cockpit as well)?
If so, you need to make sure that the hull is well supported , so that it cannot distort - the deck would have added a fair amount of rigidity to the structure.

Well currently I don't have any pictures of the inside was trying to get it seal from the rain and yes it is an old boat made in 2014 and it is fiberglass ...didn't need to remove cabin it rest on the floor and I can't tell u the make, where I live in the Caribbean there is no boat manufacturer we just pick a length and engine type whether outboard or inboard and it is made so we don't have models or names

How about some photos of the exterior for a start?

Less than 10 years old for a fibreglass boat is not 'old'! :)

Which island do you live on in the Caribbean? Your profile is a bit misleading, saying 'Usa'.
    I live in Barbados.

I don't do fibreglass work any more (I have done enough in the past, including grinding), but I can put you in touch with some good fibreglass guys.
And I would be happy to come and have a look at your boat and see what needs doing, no worries.
I can't send you a PM message yet (I think you need at least 5 posts to your name before you can send messages on here), but you could give me a shout on 230 1532.

The hull can be made strong enough without stringers, but need a lot more details about the boat to make any comments about the structure.

If stringers had been removed; you ought to see it.

Are you still with us Dre?
If you give me a shout, I will come and have a look at your boat, and take some photos to post on here - there is a lot of expertise on this Forum, which can usefully help you.
