    Downforce

The designer of the S9 told me that his boat uses downforce as does any multihull with dual independent wand systems like the Rave, Whisper ,Osprey, Skat and IFly 15 cat.

    Tf 10

UPDATE: It was just confirmed to me by someone involved in the project, that the boat is designed to foil on all four foils at once. They are using a similar foil system to the Nacra 17, A Cat and Nacra 15: two main surface piercing foils and two rudder foils. See post 62.

I don't see why they put a third hull on that boat?
If the construction is that flat, then what is the benefit of the hull in the middle?

One advantage I see with a foiling trimaran, is that you can make the WW ama and foil lift from the water automatically, so that you don't have to lift the foil on each tack.

This boats looks like a foiling cat with an extra hull in the middle. Which will only cause extra drag?

    Maserati

Video of Maserati during the RORC race. At one point early on she flies the main hull high enough to see the "Manta" foil(daggerboard foil similar to the one on Fire Arrow) :

At 1:40 Soldini says "di notte non avevamo mai volato così" (we have never flown like this in the night). :)

    Maserati

There were reports published on the Maserati site during the race that they hit the fastest speeds ever, with their partial foil system, during the night. Must have been a bit scary!

Glad you said partial foil system Doug, at no time did Maserati look like a poised up on the foils boat in that video

    Maserati

They foiled in that race and Malta only on stb tack after the collision on the way to Malta. Nevertheless did some of their fastest speeds ever at night...

    port tack before the ufo:
