Hi, my name is Dave, I run the little website for IMP boat owners, http//www.impboatclub.com. I am also introducing a new site, http://www.boatrebuilding.com whose focus will be in maintenance, repair, and remodeling older boats.
I am currently working on donations, and cannot afford much, but am looking for some good software, that is fairly easy to use, to draw, and model existing boats, and modify interior arrangements, Is there such a program and is it by chance free open source?
The project I am working on is a 1970 IMP Aztec 20.5' power train updated to 1985 OMC 800 outdrive powered by an OMC ford 351 Windsor engine.
The hull is bare, with the exception of the drivers console, and lend itself to a new floor plan, and top. I have lots of room under the forward floor, to create a step down walkway to the drivers seat, lowering the height of the future hardtop.(and opening up storage areas under the front seats, not to mention making the forward hatch More accessible) I would live to be able to model this on the computer, rather than design on the fly by just cutting and pasting.
any advice is very much welcome, just remember I am a poor boy, can't afford expensive do dads, but can fabricate just about any thing from just about any materials
    Thanks
    Dave,
