Thats pretty cool! The shaft outside the rudder is 89cm. And the 85 degrees is the other way. The shaft is a hollow pipe so I don't think it slims down within the rudder itself.

I made new rudders for my 39 ft cat using solid s/steel bar 40 mm . The blades were formed from 2 mm sheet with a balanced foil carefully welded no water ingress in 20 years . They have been very strong with no faults at all . Made by a local engineering shop .
